SPEAKER: Pastor Charlie Riley
May 24, 2025

Message Notes

You Will Never Live The Christian Life The Way It Was Meant To Be Lived Until You Have The Mindset That God Is Good!

God Is Good
God Is For Me
God Does Love Me
God Is Good To Me
God Is Not Against Me

“The Why’s”
If God Is Good, Then “Why?”

Why Do Bad Things Happen?

Why Is God Mean In The Bible?

Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People?

Simple Answer: Sin (Noun)

The Garden Of Eden

Three Reasons Bad Things Happen
The Enemy Attacks
People Make Choices
The Fall Of Man

John 10:10

Why Was God So Mean In The Old Testament?

Two Main Reasons

Understanding The Giants of Genesis
“Nephilim” – “Fallen Ones” & Understanding Of The Law

Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he ambushed him on the way when he came up from Egypt. Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’
1 Samuel 15:2-3

Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God (Angels) saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.
Genesis 6:1-2

And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
Genesis 6:3-4

The Nephilim Were The Descendants Of The Angels
Half Man And Half Angel

And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day;
Jude 1:6

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison,
1 Peter 3:18-19

who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
1 Peter 3:20

“The Law”

The Law Was An Agreement Between Israel And God

If You “Obeyed” You Will Be Blessed
If You “Disobeyed” You Will Be Cursed

The Law Strengthened Sin (1 Cor. 15:56)

The Law Was A Ministry of Death and Condemnation (2 Cor. 3:7, 9)

The Law Made Sin Come Alive,
And Killed Us (Rom. 7:9)

The Law Magnified Sin And Produced Hopelessness (Rom. 7:13-25)

The Law Gave Guilt And Knowledge Of Sin, Not Salvation (Rom. 3:19-20)

For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
Romans 6:14

The Law Was Not Inaccurate, But Incomplete

For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
John 1:17

Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son —
Gen 22:15-16

blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”
Gen 22:17-18

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Galatians 3:13-14

God Is Good

For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.
Psalms 100:5

God Is For Me

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Romans 8:31

God Does Love Me

We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides continually in him.
1 John 4:16

God Is Good To Me

I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Psalm 27:13

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
Psalm 23:6

God Is Good
God Is For Me
God Does Love Me
God Is Good To Me
