You Asked For It 2026 - You Asked For It – Week 7

SPEAKER: Pastor Charlie Riley
September 20, 2026

Q1: My understanding is, we must ask God for forgiveness to be forgiven. Why then are we required to forgive others, even though they never apologized nor asked to be forgiven?

Old Testament Forgiveness
Forgive, And You Shall Be Forgiven

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6:14-15

New Testament Believer
You Are Forgiven; Therefore Go And Forgive

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
Ephesians 4:31-32

God Has Forgiven Us
We In Turn Forgive Others

Regardless Of Their Apology
Forgiveness Is About Freeing Me!!!!

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8

Q2: Given the year thirty-three AD (33 AD) at the time of Jesus’ crucifixion, approximately how many years passed before the Christian ministries started to claim when the second coming of Christ was going to happen? Was it documented? Some research suggests 51 A.D. or 70-100 A.D., but that is now 1,920+ years ago. Please clarify this situation.

The Return Of Christ

1 Of Every 25 Verses In The New Testament
300 References In 260 Chapters
Of The New Testament
8 Times More References To The Second Coming Than The First

IMPORTANT!!!!
There Has Never Been A Time Since The New Testament That The Return Of Christ Has Not Been Preached

Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
Acts 1:9-11

For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
1 Corinthians 11:26

Q3: Why does it seem like God blesses others while some of us have to wait and have been waiting for years and decades for God to bless us?

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
Ephesians 1:3-6

Stop Waiting For What God Has Already Said You Are!!!!!

Believe You Are Blessed

Receive The Blessing By Faith, Not Need

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6

Stop Waiting To See It,
Before You Believe It

Start Speaking It, And Believe It!!!!

Q4: Is it a sin to drink alcohol? I have been told that Jesus actually never drank wine but it was actually grape juice… I always thought it was not a sin as long as one did not get drunk. But if one drink alters the mind would it be considered a sin? Thank you for your input Pastor Charlie!

Go, eat your bread with joy, And drink your wine with a merry heart; For God has already accepted your works.
Ecclesiastes 9:7

And wine that makes glad the heart of man, Oil to make his face shine, And bread which strengthens man’s heart.
Psalms 104:15

I will bring back the captives of My people Israel; They shall build the waste cities and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them; They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them. I will plant them in their land, and no longer shall they be pulled up From the land I have given them,” Says the Lord your God.
Amos 9:14-15

Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.
Ephesians 5:17-21

The Bible Does Not Forbid Alcohol Or Having Wine
The Bible Forbids Drunkenness

Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Those who linger long at the wine, Those who go in search of mixed wine. Do not look on the wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the cup, When it swirls around smoothly; At the last it bites like a serpent, And stings like a viper.
Proverbs 23:29-32

Your eyes will see strange things, And your heart will utter perverse things. Yes, you will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, Or like one who lies at the top of the mast, saying: “They have struck me, but I was not hurt; They have beaten me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake, that I may seek another drink?”
Proverbs 23:33-35

Q5: Is there Biblical evidence that the Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit each have a sense
of humor?

Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision.
Psalms 2:1-4

Do You Believe That God Gets Angry?

Why Would You Not Believe He Laughs?

I Believe There Are Some Challenges With God Laughing

I Believe He Is Full of Joy!!!!
