Faith - Week 2

SPEAKER: Pastor Charlie Riley
August 12, 2023

Week 2
August 12, 2023

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6

But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:8-9

For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:10-13

Do Not Meditate and Talk About:
What You Don’t Know – 1 Corinthians 2:16
What You Don’t Have – 2 Peter 1:3
What You Can’t Do – Philippians 4:13

Why Faith?

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
Genesis 1:3

Believed In His Heart and He Said With His Mouth

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image (Spirit), according to Our likeness (Personality – Moral Character); let them have dominion (Over The Physical) over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Genesis 1:26

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Genesis 1:27-28

And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them.
Genesis 2:18-19a

And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.
Genesis 2:19b-20

Why Does Faith Please God?

You Are “Being” (Not Acting) Like Your Father
When You Are In Faith

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
Hebrews 11:3

And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak,
2 Corinthians 4:13

If Your Believing Is Wrong, Your Speaking Will Be Wrong
Wrong Believing Leads To Wrong Speaking

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
1 John 5:4

You see, every child of God overcomes the world, for our faith is the victorious power that triumphs over the world.
1 John 5:4 (Passion Translation)

Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all
Romans 4:16

(as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.”
Romans 4:17-18

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.
Genesis 17:1-3

And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”
Romans 4:19-22

Considered Not His Body Or Sarah’s Womb
His Circumstance Had To Bow To The Promise

“He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief”

He Believed The Promise Over His Circumstance And Situation

“was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God”

Strengthened In Faith (Believing and Speaking) And Praising God For The Promise

Being Fully Convinced In What He (God) Promised
God Would Perform

The Promise Was All He Had

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18

I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
Luke 18:8
