The Person You Must Know
April 29, 2023

John 14:16
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper (parakletos), that He may abide with you forever—

He’s Your Helper

He’s Your Friend And He Is Not Weird

He’s Your God

John 15:26
“But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.

John 16:5-10
“But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

Luke 3:22
And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”

Acts 5:3-4
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”

He Is Your Helper
He Is Your Friend
He Is Your God

When Did He Make His Grand Entrance?
On “Pentecost” Sunday

1. What Is Pentecost?
Our View of Pentecost Is Often Tainted By:
Cultural – Denominational – Historical
Understandings

Pentecost
“Fiftieth” “Fifty”

Pentecost Scripturally
Was 1 of the 3 Major Feasts of Israel

Three Feasts of Israel

Passover – 1st Month
Unleavened Bread – First Fruits – Passover
Represent Our Salvation

50 Days Later
Pentecost – 3rd Month
Represents Our Infilling Of The Holy Spirit

Tabernacles – 7th Month
Trumpets – Atonement – Tabernacles
2nd Coming of Christ

2. What Happened On The Day of Pentecost
Acts 2:1-4
When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 2:5-8
And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. (15 Nations) And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born?

Unity – Confusion – 1 Language

Genesis 11:5
But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the Lord said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.”
Pentecost Was The Reversal of Babel

3. Can We Experience Pentecost
The 120

Acts 2:3-4
Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 1:4
And being assembled together with them, He (JESUS) commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

The 3000

Acts 2:37-39
Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

What Happens When We Yield To The Holy Spirit Baptizing Us

Acts 1:8
But You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has came upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
