Why? - Saved

SPEAKER: Pastor Charlie Riley
August 6, 2022

Why?
Saved
August 6, 2022

For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord,
and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?
Hebrews 2:2-4

Salvation – Sozo – Soteria
“Salvation is a broader term in Greek than we often think of in English. Other concepts that are inherent in soteria include restoration to a state of safety, soundness, health and well-being as well as preservation from danger of destruction.

Sozo (see word study), the verb, and soteria, the noun, are surely two of the most important words in all of God’s Word.

Salvation – Sozo and Soteria
Redeemed Life That Is Free From The Penalty
Jesus Kind of Life

Therefore the Lord heard this and was furious; So a fire was kindled against Jacob, And anger also came up against Israel, Because they did not believe in God, And did not trust in His salvation.
Ps 78:21-22

God Provided “Salvation”
When They Needed Protection – God Gave Them The Passover Lamb
When They Were Hungry – Manna From Heaven
When They Needed Water – He Gave Them A Rock
When They Were Sick – God Provided Healing
When They Were Cold – God Gave Them A Fire
When They Were Hot – God Gave Them A Cloud
Their Shoes Never Wore Out
Their Clothes Never Wore Out
God’s Salvation Was Complete and Total Provision In Every Area of Life

Yes, again and again they tempted God, And limited the Holy One of Israel.
Psalms 78:41

Ephesians 2:8 – (you are having been saved)
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

Continuing Present Tense
1 Corinthians 1:18 – being saved (continuing process)
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Noah’s Ark – Salvation
God Provided The Ark – He Saved Them
They Entered The Ark – They Were Saved
They Continued In The Ark – They Were Continually Being Saved

Question: Which One Is Salvation?

God Provided An Ark – Jesus – He Saved You
You Entered The Ark – You Were Saved (Confess Jesus + God Raised Him)
You Are Continuing In the Ark – You Are Being Saved

Question: Which One Is Salvation?

He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right (authority) to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 1:11-13

**The Appropriation or Application of Salvation
Is Progressive As We Grow And Take Authority As Children of God and Claim Our Salvation
We Must Grow In Our Salvation

The More You Grasp Salvation The Greater Its Power In Your Life**

Examples:

And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent out into all that surrounding region, brought to Him all who were sick, and begged Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well (Salvation).
Matthew 14:35-36

Then they went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid. They also who had seen it told them by what means he who had been demon-possessed was healed (Salvation).
Luke 8:35-36 (healed)

And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well (Salvation). Go in peace.”
Luke 8:48 (made you well – Sozo)

But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well (Salvation).”
Luke 8:50 (be made well- Resurrected- Sozo)

If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well (Salvation),
Acts 4:9 (made well- Sozo)

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Salvation).”
Acts 4:12 (Salvation)

And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked. This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed (Salvation), said with a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet!” And he leaped and walked.
Acts 14:8-10 (Healed – Saved )

And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve (Salvation) me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!
2 Tim 4:18 (preserve- Saved)

Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
