Forgiveness

The Confusing Part Of Forgiveness
Forgiveness Is Unconditional and Free (Col 2:13)
It’s Conditional based On Confessing and or Repenting Of Our Sins (1 John 1:9)
We Can Lose Forgiveness By Not Forgiveness Others (Matt 6:15)
We Are Totally Forgiven In Christ (Ephesians 1:7)
Some Sins You Cannot Be Forgiven For No Matter What (Matt 12:31-32)
Human Beings Can Forgive Others Sin (John 20:23)
You Must Be Forgiven Of All Sin Before You Can Go To heaven

Forgiveness Was and Is God’s Idea, Not Man’s Idea

Old Testament
Forgives
Salach” – to pardon; spare someone; to relieve someone of a burden or offence
Used 50 Times in the Old Testament, Always Used In God Doing The Forgiving

Psalms 103:3 (1-5)
Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Is 55:7
Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.

Gospels And Forgiveness

3 Greek Words
Greek – Aphesis – To Release
Apoluo – to be loosed, or set free
Synonyms of Each Other
Conditional: A Condition Must Be Met

Ephesians 1:7
We have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness (aphesin) of sins, according to the riches of his grace.

Charizomai – God’s Unconditional Forgiveness

Is A Removal of Sin and Guilt, But Not Necessarily The Removal of Consequences

Simply: God’s Pardon Offered Freely, To All, With Absolutely No Conditions
Except Believing and Receiving

Col 2:13
13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven (charisamenos) you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

“In Paul the terms aphiemi and aphesis virtually disappear. This is because the proclamation of forgiveness appears in Paul’s writings as a thought-out and systematized doctrine. The fact that forgiveness is not merely a remission of past guilt, but includes total deliverance from the power of sin and restoration to fellowship with God…

God Has Already Forgiven You Of All Your Sin
God Has Done His Part In Your Redemption

The Women Who Washed Jesus Feet

Luke 7:41-48
41 “There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42 And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?”
43 Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.”
And He said to him, “You have rightly judged.” 44 Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. 45 You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. 46 You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. 47 Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.” 48 Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

Hindrances To Our Forgiveness

Religion and Bad Bible Teaching

Mark 7:11-13
11 But you say, ‘If a man says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is Corban”—’ (that is, a gift to God), 12 then you no longer let him do anything for his father or his mother, 13 making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.”

Satan

Revelation 12:10-12
10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. 12 Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”

Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
